Status Update

Bo Obama is still kicking ass and taking names at the White House and here are some new pictures a lucky photographer snagged. Honestly, this person should be given an award for photo-journalism; they are doing some of the most important work I know of.

For Ross Gortner

This shirt.

Manchester United

As a senior contributor to Liebtag.org, I’ve just made Manchester United the official team of the website, and for good reason after today’s victory. Read about it here and this is where you can find the highlights.

Pizza box of the future

Simple perforated pizza box that does a great job of breaking into plates and a storage container. So simple and yet possibly so impactful.

Santos Party House

NYMag reports on Andrew W.K.’s new multi level club Santos Party House. It’s based on just having fun, partying and inclusivity. Seems like a much better night out than waiting in line for expensive drinks at Marquee or someplace else. And who doesn’t love Andrew W.K.? I mean really he believes (as do I)…

That an awesome night can have transformative powers, providing the freedom and release required for maintaining mental health.

Wind POWER

Gizmodo has a great piece on a HUGE windmill being built in Hamburg, Germany. Yes those are people on the inside of the turbine putting it together.

Texas

It is scary to think about the people we elect to the house of representatives. Consider Joe Barton who waxes philosophical about plate tectonics

Isn’t it obvious that at one time it was a lot warmer in Alaska and on the North Pole? It wasn’t a big pipeline that we’ve created from Texas and shipped it up there and put it under ground so we can now pump it up?

Iron Mike

Ice T talks about his friendship with Mike Tyson and the upcoming documentary that Tyson narrated about himself. Not to condone his actions but it is crazy to think about living a life centered around boxing with little support system, as Ice says:

You train a pitbull, and you get mad when it eats the furniture

Sharks!

Crazy footage of great white sharks jumping Kottke reports on how they got the shots

Everest

I’ve always wanted to climb a really high peak, but then I read Into Thin Air and decided maybe I could just read about climbing a high peak and live without the high threat to my life. On a similar note NASA has an amazing pic of Everest from space.

GO ARLEN GO

Making me proud, Arlen is leaving the dark side and has become a Democrat. Love it.

Can’t Tell Colbert is Joking

The stupidity of people will never cease to amaze me, nor will the hilarity that is Stephen Colbert. After reading this article I actually went back and watched his entire 2006 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which has a great Wikipedia page, and you can find here.

A change is a coming

Great article about why Obama shook Chavez’s hand. I have to admit it was strange to see him meeting with a guy who regularly called Bush the devil and claimed the American government was a menace to the world. But as the article points out the Bush doctrine of using access to diplomacy as a bargaining chip not a tool and regime change as a method of dealing with rogue leaders didn’t work and is over:

Candidate Barack Obama could not have been clearer. He was going to talk to foreign leaders directly whether the United States agreed with their policies or not. And the purpose of this new diplomacy, Mr. Obama emphasized, was not to change regimes around the world but to advance American interests… As he made clear during the campaign, the president believes direct diplomacy is a tool in America’s arsenal. It is not a prize to be won.
